A number of holograms next to a star gate offer information about the system that the gate connects to, such as the security rating of the target system or if there has been a high number of ship or pod kills over the as well as generic information about the traffic that the gate has seen.
Traffic level information as well as the danger level are averaged over time and as such may only offer delayed information.
