Chat Channels Empty / Not Visible

As of March 20th, the EVE Online chat system requires players to have open port 5222 on their connection (Firewall / Router). Players who log into the game and do not see any content in their chat channels are advised to ensure that the port is open.

Testing Port 5222 

Players can check to see if the port is open by visiting the following URL:

http://portquiz.net:5222/

If port 5222 is open then players should see a message similar to the one below indicating that they are able to reach the web site:

If players are unable to reach the above URL then it does indicate that port 5222 is not open. Players will need to open the port on their connection (Firewall, Router). 

Players should also ensure that the following address is whitelisted in their security applications as it may not be enough to just open the port:

tranquility.chat.eveonline.com:5222
