Troubleshooting in-game chat

Chat issues can be caused by a connectivity issue with our chat server. The EVE Online chat system requires players to have open port 5222 on their connection (Firewall / Router). Players who log into the game and do not see any content in their chat channels are advised to ensure that the port is open.

Testing Port 5222

Players can check to see if the port is open by visiting the following URL:

http://portquiz.net:5222/

If port 5222 is open, then players should see a message like the one below indicating that they are able to reach the web site:

If players are unable to reach the above URL, then it does indicate that port 5222 is not open. Players will need to open the port on their connection (Firewall, Router).

Players should also ensure that the following addresses are whitelisted in their security applications as it may not be enough to just open the port:

live.chat.eveonline.com:5222
