Chat Issues

To help you resolve chat issues, we’ve compiled a list of steps that should address most common issues. Please follow the instructions below.

Check for Known Issues

Sometimes, chat issues may be part of a broader problem affecting multiple players. Check the following:

Check Your Internet Connection

Ensure that your internet connection is stable and working properly.

  • You can do this by testing other online services or using speed test websites to check your internet speed and latency.

Clear the Client Cache

Corrupt or outdated client cache files can cause graphical glitches.

  • Start and log into the game as normal.
  • Once you are logged in, open the settings menu by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard.
  • Select the Reset Settings tab.
  • Click on the Clear button next to Clear All Cache Files.

Verify Game Files

Corrupted game files can lead to various graphical problems. Verify the integrity of your game files through the EVE Online launcher.

  • Open the EVE Online launcher.
  • Click on the Cogwheel icon in the top right corner.
  • Select Tools / Cache on the left and click Verify Game Files.
    • This will check for any corrupted files and repair them.

Restart the Client

  • Close the EVE Online client completely.
  • Restart your computer and relaunch the client.

Network Configuration

Ensure all network settings are correct and EVE Online is not being blocked by any security software.

  • Add exceptions for EVE Online to your firewall and/or antivirus software.
  • Add port forwarding for EVE Online.
    • TCP & UDP: live.chat.eveonline.com:5222
  • Sometimes, changing your DNS settings can improve connectivity. Consider using Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1)
