Direct Trading is a fundamental aspect of the bustling New Eden economy, allowing Capsuleers to exchange items, ships, and services without using the market as an intermediary. Pilots in the same station or structure can request a direct trade from each other and select what they want to trade and what they want in return.
How Make a Direct Trade:
- Meet in the Same Structure: Both pilots must be docked in the same station or Upwell structure.
-
Initiate the Trade:
- Right-click on the Player: Right-click on the other player’s name in your contact list, chat window, or directly in the structure's guest list.
- Select Trade: Choose the "Trade" option from the context menu. This will open the trade window.
-
Trade Window:
- Drag Items and Set Your Price: Drag and drop any items or ships you want to trade away and optionally set the amount of ISK you want to receive in return.
- Review the Trade: Ensure that both you and the other pilot have placed the correct items and the right amount of ISK in the trade window. Double-check the details to avoid any mistakes or potential scams.
-
Confirm the Trade:
- Accept: Once both pilots have reviewed the trade, click the "Accept" button. The trade will be finalized once both pilots have clicked "Accept".
What to Watch Out For:
- Scams and Deception: Always be cautious when directly trading with other Capsuleers. New Eden can be a very dangerous place where scams and trickery are encouraged. It is the responsibility of the pilot to ensure they are not being taken advantage of.
- Contract System: For larger or more complex trades, consider using the contract system instead. Contracts provide a more secure way to trade as they outline the terms clearly and help avoid misunderstandings or last-minute changes.
- Valuation of Items: Ensure that you know the market value of the items being traded. Check the regional market prices to avoid being shortchanged.
