When EVE Online is installed through Steam, Steam cannot manage or repair the game files — that’s handled directly through the EVE Launcher.
If you’re having trouble launching the game or suspect corrupted files, you can use the launcher’s Verify Game Files tool.
How to Verify Game Files in the EVE Launcher
Open the EVE Launcher
Start EVE Online from your Steam Library.
The EVE Launcher will open automatically.
Open Settings
Click the cogwheel icon in the top-right corner of the launcher.
This opens the Settings window, with sections listed on the left (EVE Launcher, EVE Online, EVE Vanguard, Tools, Support, Changelog).
Verify Game Files
In the left-hand list, select EVE Online.
Click Verify Game Files.
The launcher will scan your EVE Online installation and repair or re-download any corrupted or missing files.
Let the Verification Run
A progress bar will appear while the launcher checks the files.
This process may take several minutes depending on installation size and internet speed.
Once finished, you can close the settings and launch the game normally.
When to Run Verification
Run the Verify Game Files option if you notice:
The game not launching.
Frequent crashes or unexplained error messages.
Missing graphics, sounds, or UI elements.
Sudden performance issues not caused by your hardware.
