Using the EVE Launcher from Steam

When playing EVE Online via Steam, the game always launches through the EVE Launcher, which is the central hub for managing accounts, game settings, and updates. Understanding how the EVE Launcher works will help you log in correctly and avoid confusion when switching between Steam and non-Steam accounts.

How It Works

• When you click Play in your Steam Library, Steam automatically starts the EVE Launcher.

• The launcher checks for updates before letting you play.

• If your account was created through Steam, the launcher will automatically log you in — no extra steps required.

• The launcher is also where you can:

  • Manage multiple EVE accounts

  • Save accounts for quicker switching

  • Change game settings (graphics, language, cache, etc.)

  • Switch between Steam login and EVE Online account login (if you play both via Steam and directly through CCP’s launcher)

Logging in Through Steam

• When launching via Steam:

  • Your Steam-linked account is auto-logged in to the launcher.

  • You won’t see a “Log in with Steam” button — Steam handles authentication silently.

• When using the standalone CCP launcher (downloaded outside of Steam):

  • You will see a “Log in with Steam” button.

  • Use this if you want to access your Steam-created account without running Steam.

Saved Accounts in the Launcher

• Once you log in with an account (Steam or non-Steam), the launcher saves it automatically.

• Each saved account appears as a tile on the launcher’s main screen, showing character portraits if available.

• This allows you to quickly switch between multiple accounts without re-entering login details.

Managing Saved Accounts

• Add an account: log in once, and it will stay saved.

• Remove an account:

  1. In the launcher, locate the account you want to remove.

  2. Click on the account’s Account Settings tab (within that account tile).

  3. Select Remove Account.

• Important: There is no option to disable automatic saving of accounts in the launcher — each account must be removed individually if you don’t want it stored.

Redeeming Items

The EVE Launcher does not handle item redemption. Instead, you redeem items in-game:

1. Log in to the game client.

2. On the Character Select screen, look for the Redeem Items bar at the bottom.

3. Drag the item(s) onto the character portrait you want to assign them to.

4. Redeemed items appear in your Item Hangar at that character’s station.

Common Issues

• Launcher not opening from Steam: Restart Steam and try again.

• Black screen after launcher: Ensure the game is up to date via the launcher.

• Accidentally logging into the wrong account: Remove it via that account’s Account Settings tab and re-add the correct one.
