Many players ask if they can take their existing EVE Online account and connect it to Steam so they can log in through the Steam launcher. Unfortunately, this is not possible.
Why can’t I link my existing account to Steam?
When you create an account through Steam, it is automatically tied to your Steam profile. This connection is built into the account at creation and cannot be applied afterward. Since existing EVE accounts were created outside of Steam, there is no way to retroactively attach them to Steam.
What are my options?
If you would like to play EVE Online through Steam:
You can create a new EVE Online account via Steam. This new account will be fully tied to your Steam profile and allow seamless login through the Steam launcher.
If you want to keep using your existing account, simply continue logging in via the EVE Launcher (non-Steam version) with your EVE username and password.
Important Notes
Omega status, characters, and progress cannot be transferred from a non-Steam account to a Steam account.
If you already purchased Omega or PLEX on your non-Steam account, those benefits remain available on that account, but will not carry over if you create a new Steam-linked account.
You are free to have both a Steam-linked account and a standalone EVE account, but they will remain separate.
