Updated

This article helps troubleshoot issues relating to the launcher after its been installed. If you are having problems downloading or installing the game, please check out the following article: Troubleshoot - Downloading The Game / Launcher

 Possible Solutions

  • Open up your Windows Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl+Shift+ESC keys or by right clicking on the clock at the bottom right of the Windows screen and select 'Task Manager'. Scroll down and Right Click on any processes relating to EVE Online and select 'End task'. Then try starting the launcher again.
  • If you're starting the game via Steam then close Steam entirely. Right click on the shortcut you use to start Steam and select 'Run as Administrator'.
  • If you don't use Steam then just right click on the shortcut you use to start the launcher and select 'Run as Administrator'.
  • Restart your computer. (may want to bookmark this article first).
  • Make sure you have the latest updates installed for your operating system.

Specific Error Messages and Their Solutions

“Some indices are unavailable" (PC - see below for Mac)

This message usually means something is preventing the launcher from modifying the files in the shared resource cache folder. Often if you wait a few minutes the verify button becomes available. However, if that does not happen you can try restarting the computer as that should cause any programs holding the files captive to let them go.

If that still does not work then we recommend you try deleting the TQ folder to force the launcher to download the files again. To delete TQ please do the following:

PC Instructions (see below if you are using a Mac)

  • Start the launcher.
  • Click on the cogwheel in the bottom left corner of the launcher window.
  • Click on Reset Options & Cache
  • Click on Shared Cache Settings.
  • Click on show in explorer.
  • Right click on the folder TQ and select Delete.
  • Close file explorer.
  • Restart the launcher.

Mac Instructions

  • Start the launcher.
  • Click on the cogwheel in the bottom left corner of the launcher window.
  • Click on Reset Options & Cache
  • Click on Shared Cache Settings.
  • Click on reveal in Finder.
  • Click and drag wine to the bin.
  • Close the Finder.
  • Restart the launcher.

If that still does not resolve the issue then we suggest you also delete the 'ResFiles' folder from within the Shared resource cache folder. But be warned that this will mean that you have to re-download most of the game files again so that will mean a large download.
