This article is intended to help troubleshoot issues relating to the launcher after it has been installed. If you are having problems downloading or installing EVE Online, please check out the following article: Troubleshoot - Downloading The Game / Launcher

 Possible Solutions

  • Open up your Windows Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl+Shift+ESC keys or by right clicking on the clock at the bottom right of the Windows screen and selecting 'Task Manager'. Scroll down and Right Click on any processes relating to EVE Online and select 'End task'. Then try starting the launcher again.
  • If you're starting the game via Steam, try closing Steam entirely. Right click on the shortcut you use to start Steam and select 'Run as Administrator'.
  • If you don't use Steam, try Right Clicking on the shortcut you use to start the launcher and select 'Run as Administrator'.
  • Restart your computer. (You may want to bookmark this article first).
  • Make sure you have the latest updates installed for your operating system.
  • If you are using Windows 7, please go to this page : The latest supported Visual C++ downloads and make sure to download and install the x64: vc_redist.x64.exe file.
  • If you are using a 3rd party multi-client software such as ISBoxer, please try disabling / removing the software to see if that fixes the issue.

Specific Error Messages and Their Solutions

“Some indices are unavailable" (PC - see below for Mac)

This message usually means something is preventing the launcher from modifying the files in the shared resource cache folder. Often if you wait a few minutes the verify button will become available. However, if that does not happen you can try restarting the computer as that should cause any programs holding the files captive to let them go.

If that still does not work then we recommend you try deleting the TQ folder to force the launcher to download the files again. To delete TQ please do the following:

PC Instructions (see below if you are using a Mac)

  • Start the launcher.
  • Click on the cogwheel in the top right corner of the launcher window.
  • Select Shared Cache
  • Click on show in file browser.
  • Right click on the folder TQ and select Delete.
  • Close file browser.
  • Restart the launcher.

Mac Instructions

  • Start the launcher.
  • Select the view tab in the apple menu
  • Select Preferences
  • Click on Show in file browser.
  • Click and drag wine to the bin.
  • Close the file browser.
  • Restart the launcher.

If that still does not resolve the issue then we suggest that you also delete the 'ResFiles' folder from within the Shared resource cache folder. Be warned that this will mean that you have to re-download most of the game files again so that will mean a large download.
